Today I’d like to share an exercise with you that I learned from my Mastermind group. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the concept of a Mastermind group, it is a group of individuals who share certain tactics and techniques with each other in order to help the group learn and grow.

Recently, in one of my Mastermind groups, we went over an exercise in which we outlined 20 reasons why we wanted something. For example, the topic that day was “20 reasons why you want to be rich,” but this exercise can apply to almost anything.

I saw a common pattern repeating itself among the group. One of the reasons that people in the Mastermind gave was that they wanted to be rich because they wanted to give back and provide others with opportunities. Giving back to the community was on almost everybody’s list.

Another reason that others gave for wanting to be rich was financial freedom. Not having to worry about meeting monthly financial obligations, where to eat, or health care costs were all at the top of everybody’s list as well.

How committed are you to your goals?

What I found fascinating was how challenging it was for some to find 20 reasons why they wanted something. What I took away from the exercise was that if you can’t think of 20 reasons why you want to do something, you may not want it bad enough. It comes down to how bad you actually want to do something. This list of 20 reasons will help you determine whether it’s an actual life goal for you or simply something that you just think you want.

One of my mentors always asked, “How long will it take you to accomplish a certain something?” How long will it take you to become rich? How long will it take you to get fit? The answer to this depends on your level of commitment.

If you have any other questions about how to meet your goals or anything else related to real estate in Ventura County, give me a call or send me an email. I’d always be happy to help you!
